6-Year-Old Boy Asks Santa to ‘Skip’ Him to Give Presents to Needy Kids
A 6-year-old Florida boy with a heart of gold would rather spread the joy of Christmas than ask for gifts himself.
Chance Teckenbrock participated in the time-honored holiday tradition and wrote a letter to Santa, but he didn’t ask for any presents. Instead, he asked Jolly Ol’ St. Nick to “skip” him this Christmas.
“Please take all my toys to boys and girls who don’t have some,” Chance wrote.
In the letter, he made clear to Santa that his request to be left out of the Christmas run only applied to him, instructing him to not skip his sister.
“You can skip me but not my sister,” he wrote. “She will cry.”
Chance’s mother, Elizabeth Teckenbrock, told WFLA that he got the idea to allocate his gifts elsewhere after a conversation at school about a newer tradition – the all-knowing Elf on the Shelf – made him realize that not all of his classmates may receive anything this year.
“I know some people don’t have money to get toys,” Chance told his mother, she said.
Teckenbrock said that Chance has always had a huge heart. Now, the family’s goal is to collect as many toys as possible to give to children in need in the Tampa Bay area.
“He wants to make others Christmas great, and I want to make his great,” she said.
